From Surviving to Living Again | A Boudoir Photography Story About Choosing Yourself

July 7, 2026

From Surviving to Living Again

Woman smiling during a luxury boudoir photography session in Mossel Bay.There are moments in life when you realise you’ve been putting everyone else first for so long that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to choose yourself. For many women, a boudoir photography experience isn’t simply about beautiful photographs—it’s about reconnecting with confidence, self-worth, and the woman they’ve always been. This is one woman’s story.

For one incredible woman who recently stepped into my studio, that moment came after years of feeling disconnected from the person staring back at her in the mirror.

She avoided mirrors.

She avoided social events.

She didn’t want to see herself, and she didn’t want anyone else to see her either.

I know she isn’t alone.

So many women silently carry the weight of self-doubt, believing they’ll finally deserve confidence once they’ve lost the weight, reached a milestone, or become a different version of themselves.

But confidence doesn’t arrive after transformation.

Sometimes transformation begins the moment you decide you’re worthy today.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is boudoir photography only for confident women?

Not at all. Many women book their session because they don’t feel confident yet. A boudoir experience can become part of their journey toward seeing themselves differently.

Do I need to lose weight before booking?

Absolutely not. Your session celebrates who you are today. Confidence isn’t something you earn after reaching a goal—it’s something you deserve now.

What should I wear to a boudoir photoshoot?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. Many women choose lingerie, while others prefer an oversized shirt, knitwear, or a simple bodysuit.

If you’re looking for a luxury boudoir photographer in Mossel Bay or the Garden Route, I’d love to help you celebrate your own story. Your confidence journey deserves to be remembered—not because you’ve become someone new, but because you’ve chosen to see yourself with kindness.

How Much Do I Retouch Your Boudoir Photos?

September 29, 2025

When you book a boudoir session, you’re trusting me not only with the camera, but also with how I present you in the final images. A question I’m often asked is: “How much do you retouch?”

I believe boudoir is about celebrating who you are. My role is to capture your beauty authentically and not to change the way you look. With so many heavily edited images floating around on social media, it’s easy to forget that what you see online is often far from reality.
I want you to see yourself as you truly are and to feel proud of that.

What I Do Retouch

I keep retouching natural and minimal, focusing only on small distractions that don’t reflect who you are day-to-day:

  • Temporary blemishes: such as pimples or redness.
  • Subtle skin smoothing: for an even, polished finish.
  • Scars: may be removed if you request it.
  • Stretch marks: are softened but never erased—they’re part of your story.

What I Don’t Retouch

There are certain features I leave exactly as they are, because they make you uniquely you:

  • Freckles and beauty marks: stay visible.
  • Tattoos: I see them as an expression you’ve chosen for yourself.
  • Body shape: is never altered. No slimming, reshaping, or digital “nip and tuck.”
  • Wrinkles: are not removed—they are part of your experience and beauty.

My Editing Approach

Every image receives careful attention to ensure it looks its best. I adjust lighting, contrast, and colour to create a flattering result. These refinements highlight your natural beauty.

Why I Choose This Approach

I want you to feel empowered in your own skin. Heavy retouching may create images that look “perfect,” but they don’t show the real you and that defeats the purpose of boudoir. My goal is for you to look at your photos and see yourself: strong, beautiful and authentic.

Ready to See Yourself in a New Light?

When you step in front of my camera, my promise is simple: I won’t change you—I’ll celebrate you. If this resonates with you, I’d love to create a boudoir session that reflects your true beauty.

Your First Boudoir Experience? Here’s Exactly What to Bring

Your First Boudoir Experience? Here’s Exactly What to Bring

Boudoir is more than images. It’s about embracing who you are with confidence. It’s natural to feel a little nervous at first, many of my clients do, but with a bit of preparation, those butterflies turn into feeling comfortable in front of the camera and even excited.

I’ve created a list that will help you to prep for your photo session for an unforgettable, empowering experience.

1. Lingerie & wardrobe options

Lingerie is classic, but bring pieces that make you feel beautiful, confident and yourself.

  • Matching sets in lace or satin
  • Bodysuits (flattering and versatile)
  • A silk robe to add softness and layers
  • An oversized sweater, white/cream button-down shirt or leather jacket for a personal twist

Pro tip: Choose items that make you feel comfortable and confident. If you feel pretty wearing it, wear it!

2. Accessories to enhance your look

Small details can transform your photos. Consider the following items:

  •  Heels that elongate your legs
  •  Delicate jewelry or bold statement pieces (if it’s part of your style)
  •  Stockings or garters for a timeless touch
  •  A scarf, hat or jacket for variety

3. Personal touches

The most meaningful photographs often come from personal items that reflect who you are. Keep in mind the vibe that you are going for when choosing items.

  • Your signature perfume
  • A partner’s button-down shirt
  • A favorite book, journal, or even a coffee mug
  • Anything sentimental that makes you feel connected and authentic

4. Grooming essentials

Feeling and also looking polished elevates your images and also makes you feel great.  A few simple items can make you photo-ready:

  • Neatly groomed nails (neutral polish always works well)
  • Touch-up lipstick or gloss
  • Hairbrush/comb
  • Powder or blotting papers

5. Confidence boosters

Finally, bring along things that help calm nerves and boost your energy:

  • A playlist that makes you feel powerful
  • A bottle of water
  • Positive affirmations or a mantra that grounds you

Remember: confidence is the most beautiful accessory you can wear.

Your boudoir session is not about fitting a mold and doing what everyone else is doing. It’s about celebrating your unique beauty and journey. Bring pieces that feel like you, whether that’s a lace set, a leather jacket, or your coziest sweater. With a little preparation, you’ll walk in nervous but leave glowing, confident, proud and excited.

Your Boudoir Experience: What to Expect When You Book With Me

August 29, 2025

Booking a boudoir session can feel exciting, but also a little nerve-wracking if you don’t know what to expect. My goal is to make the process smooth, comfortable, and empowering from start to finish. Here’s exactly how it all works—so you can focus on the fun part: celebrating yourself.

Step 1: Getting in Touch

It all begins with a simple step—filling out the contact form on my website. From there, I’ll schedule a phone consultation with you. This is our chance to connect, chat about your vision, and answer any questions you may have. Once you’re ready to book, a R500 booking fee secures your date.

Step 2: Preparing for Your Session

Every client receives a detailed prep guide designed to help you feel your absolute best—covering everything from skincare to wardrobe tips. If you’d like extra guidance on what to wear, you’re welcome to email or WhatsApp me your outfit ideas beforehand. You can also bring options to your session, and I’ll help you select the perfect looks on the day.

For makeup, I work with trusted local vendors I’ll be happy to recommend. Professional makeup can enhance your confidence and give your images that extra polished finish.

Step 3: The Shoot Day

Your session will take place in my private studio and typically lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes max. When you arrive, we’ll take a few minutes to chat, ease any nerves, and set the tone for your session. I’ll play music of your choice—because the right playlist makes all the difference—and offer you something to drink, whether it’s water or a glass of champagne.

Throughout the session, I’ll guide you with posing, keep the atmosphere light and fun and ensure you feel completely comfortable. My clients often tell me that what started as nerves quickly turned into an empowering, confidence-filled experience.

Step 4: Viewing & Choosing Your Images

Within two weeks of your shoot, you’ll receive a private online gallery where you can view and select your favourite images. Your gallery will remain live for 5 days three months, giving you plenty of time to make your selections.

Once you’ve chosen your favourite images, I’ll get to work on retouching your final images which you will then receive within two weeks.

I’ve written a full blog post about my editing process HERE if you’d like a behind-the-scenes look at how I perfect each photograph.

Step 5: Final Delivery & Products

When your final images are ready, you’ll be able to download them directly from your secure online gallery, which will be available for three months. For those who want to take their experience even further, I also offer gorgeous add-on products such as custom albums—perfect for creating a keepsake you can treasure for years.

More Than Just Photos

A boudoir session is about so much more than the images themselves—it’s about stepping into your confidence, celebrating your beauty, and creating memories that last far beyond the day of your shoot.

If you’re ready to begin your boudoir journey, the first step is easy: GET IN TOUCH.
I can’t wait to guide you through an unforgettable experience.

What to Expect During a Boudoir Photography Session

Everything you need to know — before you even step in front of the camera.

Boudoir, Redefined

Boudoir isn’t just about lingerie and sultry photos. It’s about owning your story, embracing your body, and celebrating the woman you are — right now.

Whether you’re marking a personal milestone, rediscovering your confidence, or simply craving something bold and beautiful for yourself — this is a powerful experience designed for you.

Is Boudoir for Me?

100% yes!
This experience is for every woman who has ever wanted to feel confident, radiant, and empowered.

Our clients often include:

  • Brides-to-be

  • Mothers rediscovering their identity

  • Women celebrating 30th, 40th, or other personal milestones

  • Anyone who’s ready to embrace themselves fully

No “perfect body” or modeling experience required — just a willingness to show up and be seen.

What Happens During a Session?

We take care of everything so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

Here’s what’s included in your shoot:

  • Professional Makeup: Sit back and enjoy the pampering.

  • Wardrobe Guidance: I’ll help you choose flattering, confidence-boosting outfits.

  • Fully Guided Posing: You don’t need to know what to do — I’ll direct every detail so you look and feel incredible.

  • A Judgment-Free Zone: This is your safe space. Encouragement only, nerves welcome.

You’ll never be rushed or left wondering “Am I doing this right?” — you’re supported every step of the way.

What Should I Bring?

Here’s what I recommend:

  • Lingerie or outfits that you love and make you feel beautiful

  • Accessories or items that reflect you — jewelry, heels, robes, your partner’s shirt, or a leather jacket

  • A nude and black thong (just in case for wardrobe purposes)

  • An open heart and trust in the process

Don’t worry — I’ll send you a full prep guide before your session, so you’ll feel fully ready.

Still Feeling Nervous? That’s Completely Normal

Almost every woman walks in with butterflies… and walks out glowing.
Your nerves are valid — and we know how to gently guide you past them. Within minutes, most clients say they feel more relaxed than they ever expected.

You are not alone in this. And you’ll never be asked to do anything that doesn’t feel right for you.

The Image Reveal: Seeing Yourself Differently

After your shoot, I’ll get in contact with you so we can arrange an online meeting for your photo reveal session. You’ll choose your favorite images and explore heirloom albums, custom keepsakes, or wall art options.

Many clients are speechless:

“I didn’t know I could look — and feel — like this.”
“That’s me? I look beautiful.”

This is the part where it all clicks — where your confidence meets your reflection. It’s magic.

Ready to Celebrate You?

This experience isn’t about being “sexy for someone else.”
It’s about reclaiming your beauty, your strength, and your story — in a way that’s powerful, elegant, and completely you.
